 INTRODUCTION

The Department of Pathology is one of the first departments to be established at Interim Hospital Facility in the year 1998.  Dr Ritalin A Goldsmith and Dr Vandana Raphael joined as Faculty in the year 2000 and 2001 respectively and established most of the diagnostic services which included hematology, cytopathology, histopathology, clinical chemistry and clinical microbiology services.

The department was shifted to the main campus at Mawdiangdiang in 2006 and  the Departments of Microbiology and Biochemistry started functioning as independent departments. Since then the department has progressed with addition of various sections like renal pathology,  immunopathology, immunohistochemistry and neuropathology.

Blood Bank attached to the Department of Pathology was established in the year 2007 and component separation unit was added in the year 2008.
