    • Silver Jubilee ICMR Workshop on Project & Paper Writing on 4-5 April 2008.
    • Organized Guest Lecture on “Dermatology Revisited” by Prof. Kaushal K. Verma, Department of Dermatology, AIIMS and advisor to Govt. of India on 19 May 2008.
    • Organised National Seminar  in collaboration with Dept. of Atomic Energy , Mumbai Atomic Energy – improving quality of life at Robert Hospital Shillong Sept. 08.

·        Continued to be a Clinical Collaborator with Department of Bichemistry, NEHU for sequencing and isolating cancer onco-genes like p-53, BRCA1, BRCA2 etc

·        Teaching B.Sc Nursing students, Conducted many Bed Side Clinics for residents & nurses & presented Seminars

 

Mr. T. Dewan Singh was associated with following activities:

  1. Invited External Expert for evaluation and Assessment of BMIT students of Martin Luther Christian University , Shillong
  2. Monitoring of CT –units and X- ray units including installation and quality assurance test.

 

  1. Installation of MRI and Mammography units

 

  1. Calculation of thickness of lead sheet/glass of doors and windows of CT –units and X-ray – units.

 

  1. Survey of radiation level in and outside the CT-units and X-ray – units.

 

  1. Monitoring of TLD badges of doctors, radiographers, dark room assistants and attendants posted in the Dept. of Radiodiagnosis and Dept. of Cardiology and sending it to Ultra Tech Company for evaluation.

 

  1. Supervising the works of radiographers and dark room assistants.

 

Medical Training:

            Dr. D.K.Parida imparted training to the Staff Nurses & Nursing students          regarding safe Handling of Cytotoxic Drugs”

    

Mr.T. Dewan Singh, trained the students of Martin Luther Christian University ,           Shillong  for operation of radiation equipments and basic        principles of radiation safety and Teaching paramedical staffs and resident doctors of Oncology Dept., Radio-diagnosis Dept. and Cardiology Dept.

 

VIII. REsearch

Dr. D.K.Parida:

  1. Principal Investigator, Verbal Autopsy Project. This is a Task Force Project in collaboration with Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR), University of Toronto, Canada and Registrar General of India to ascertain causes of death in India.
  2. Principal Investigator “Development of Cancer Atlas Project for North East Region” for the state of Meghalaya.

       ii) Total number of chemotherapy cycles offered as the inpatient service:  1012

        iii) Total number of inter departmental consultation attended & offered  :    87

         iii) Total number of chemotherapeutic agents administered: 810

         iv) Total number of minor procedures performed  : 147

         iv) Total number of deaths   : 29

 

B. COMMUNITY SERVICE:

  • Delivered a Talk show on “How to face Cancer Bravely” on Radio Oolala, Shillong, 28 Dec 2008.
  • Participated in the LIVE Phone-in Programme of AIR, Shillong “Doctorse Miliye” on Cancer Awareness on 23 May 2008
